Eckerd announces 2025-26 specialty award winners

ST. PETERSBURG – Eckerd Athletics is proud to announce its 2025-26 specialty award winners. The finalists for these awards were revealed at the ECSPYs in early May and announced via social media on Wednesday. The five categories were Female and Male Newcomer of the Year, Team of the Year, and Female and Male Athlete of the Year.

Female Newcomer of the Year 

Aubane Statiotis of women's golf was awarded the Female Newcomer of the Year Award. The first-year golfer landed All-American honors from the WCGA, while also being named one of just five freshman in all of Division II to the organization's All-Freshman Team. Statiotis spent time this season in the top 30 in the nation by Clippd, and finished seventh overall at the NCAA South Regional in early May.

Male Newcomer of the Year

Amirali Ghavam was crowned the Male Newcomer of the Year after posting 12 wins in both singles and doubles action this year. The freshman was a Second Team All-SSC selection and was .500 or better in both singles and doubles. He and his partner at No. 1 doubles spent majority of the season ranked in the national poll by ITA.

Team of the Year

Eckerd women's basketball was awarded Team of the Year after posting a 25-7 record with a 17-3 mark in the SSC. The Tritons won the regular season title outright and qualifier for the NCAA Tournament, making the Sweet 16 for the second time in program history. Eckerd downed three top-25 teams throughout the season and boasted four All-Conference players and two All-Americans.

Female Athlete of the Year

Fresh off becoming the sixth CSC Academic All-American in Eckerd history, Hannah Taylor of Eckerd softball is named the 2025-26 Female Athlete of the Year. She capped off her illustrious career with the Tritons starting all 46 games for Eckerd in 2026, ranking second on the team with a .425 average, and finished with a single-season school record 21 doubles to go with 12 home runs and 66 RBI, which is also a single-season program record. She was SSC Player of the Week four times this season, and earned All-American honors from both D2CCA and NFCA.

Male Athlete of the Year

Reggie Fear of men's golf is this year's Eckerd Male Athlete of the Year. The First Team All-American was a First Team All-SSC and PING All-Region selection, and the conference's runner-up. Hr ended the season ranked as the nation's No. 9 ranked golfer and qualified for his second straight NCAA regional appearance. He boasted a scoring average of 69.9 during the regular season with one win and five top-three finishes. He was also a two-time SSC Men's Golfer of the Week award recipient, and reached the No. 1 spot in the nation at one point by Clippd.
