Baseball drops opener to Rollins

ST. PETERSBURG – The Eckerd Tritons baseball team dropped the series opener to the Rollins Tars on Friday by a score of 24-4.

After a scoreless first inning, the Tars added three total runs across the next two frames before breaking the game open with a six-spot in the fourth. Rollins went without a tally in the fifth before eight more in the sixth eventually building a 21-0 lead after 6.5 innings.

Eckerd added four in the bottom of the seventh, beginning with Gabe Campos' RBI single for the team's first run. Bases-loaded walks to Luis Garrido and Christian Cabina brought in the next two, and Hunter Rebhan delivered an RBI single to cap off the four-run surge.

Campos and Joey Bazydlo led the way two hits apiece for Eckerd.
