ST. PETERSBURG -- Brandilyn Reymer pitched a no-hitter and the Tritons blasted three home runs on Monday as Eckerd softball extended its win streak to 13 games following a sweep of the Adelphi Panthers.
In game one, Reymer worked around an error in the top half of the first inning, one of just two base runners in the game for the Panthers. The first two Tritons reached in the bottom half, setting up a three-run home run from
Ella Coiner to give the team the early lead. Eckerd broke things open in the second, this time plating six to extend the margin out to nine.
Molly Scott kicked off the inning with a base hit before a hit batter and bunt single loaded the bases.
Hannah Taylor cleared the bases in one swing, sending a grand slam to deep center to push the lead out to seven. An RBI groundout by
Jazz Jones and a run-scoring single from
Kaili Cannon capped off the six-run frame.
The Tritons continued their scoring onslaught in the third, pushing across another four to make a 13-0 contest. Taylor notched her fifth RBI to start with a single before
Faith Wharton, Jones, and Scott all secured run-producing hits.
Reymer closed out the final two innings to end the game by run rule. She struck out five to collect her ninth win on the mound.
Lex Difato went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Taylor led the way with five runs batted in.
In game two, a scoreless first inning passed before the Panthers got on the board first with a tally in the top of the second. Eckerd answered with its second six-run frame of the day, this time seeing three RBI singles come from
Abby Lucas,
Gracie Ciccarello,
Lex Difato prior to Coiner belting her second three-run homer of the afternoon.
A two-run home run from Adelphi cut the gap to three in the third, but Taylor earned one of those back with an RBI double in the fourth. The Tritons walked off the game with four in the bottom of the fifth to end the contest by run rule, seeing a bases-loaded walk issued to Difato, and a two-run double by Taylor. Coiner's RBI groundout pushed the final margin to eight.
Elise Roy earned the win on the mound for the Tritons, while Taylor added three more RBI to her big day.
The Tritons improve to 16-4 with the win. The team will dive back into SSC action this weekend at Lynn.
