Box Score ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons men's tennis team earned its second straight 7-0 win on Monday, defeating the visiting Jefferson Rams at home.
All three doubles matches went in favor of Eckerd, with
Marshall Hulett and
Adrian Gheorghe picking up the first win at No. 3 by a score of 6-2. The duos of
Batu Ataseven/
Amirali Ghavam and
Mario Kirkov/
Valdemar Spillemose Anderson finished shortly after by the same score of 6-4 to give the Tritons a 1-0 lead entering singles.Â
All but one of the six singles contests were decided in straight sets by Eckerd. Ataseven was first to finish with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1, while Ghavam grabbed a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 2 to follow. Kirkov clinched the match with the team's fourth point following a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win at No. 3.Â
Hulett at No. 4,
Konrad Fischer at No. 5, and Gheorghe at No. 6 rounded out the lineup for the Tritons with victories.
Eckerd improves to 4-4 with the win. the team will be back in action Wednesday vs. Edinboro.Â
