ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Eckerd men's tennis team won every match on Sunday to pick up a 7-0 victory over the visiting West Chester Rams.
The Tritons opened the match with a clean sweep in doubles. Marshall Hulett and Adrian Gheorghe earned a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 position, while Batu Ataseven and Mario Kirkov followed with a 6-3 win at No. 2. Amirali Ghavam and Konrad Fischer completed the sweep with a 7-5 decision at the third spot.
In singles, Ataseven led the way at the top position with a 6-2, 6-0 victory, setting a new Eckerd program record with his 34th career singles win to pass Elmar Koenig (2004–07).
Mario Kirkov posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while Ghavam earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision in the third spot. Gheorghe added a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4, Valdemar Spillemose Anderson recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Oskar Ekjord closed the lineup with a 6-0, 6-1 result at No. 6.
The Tritons improve to 3-4 on the year and will be back in action tomorrow to host Jefferson.
