Men's tennis comes up short vs. Davenport

Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Eckerd men's tennis team came up short in a neutral-site contest on Thursday, falling to the Davenport Panthers by a score of 4-3.

Eckerd took the early lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The Tritons bounced back from an early defeat at No. 2 as Batu Ataseven and Amirali Ghavam won at the top spot by a score of 6-3, and Adrian Gheorghe and Marshal Hulett won their match by the same score. Eckerd led 1-0 entering singles. 

The Tritons came close to securing the contest after winning the first two singles matches to take a 3-0 lead. Mario Kirkov bounced back from a first-set loss to win at No. 2 by a final of 4-6, 6-1, 11-9, while Ghavam earned a straight-set decision at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. The Panthers grabbed the final four matches to steal the 4-3 win.

Eckerd will be back in action Sunday for Senior Day against West Chester.
