WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons women's tennis team was defeated on the road by the Rollins Tars on Friday by a score of 6-1.
Rollins claimed the first two doubles matches to take an early 1–0 lead heading into singles play. Olivia Lindestaf and Catherine Cole closed out doubles with a 7–6 (7–5) victory at the No. 1 spot.
The Tars earned wins in the first two singles matches to finish, but Cole put the Tritons on the board with a point following a 6–1, 6–4 decision at No. 6. The final three matches all went to a third set. Rollins narrowly secured the next point at No. 1 with a third-set tiebreaker win. Lindestaf bounced back from a first-set loss with a 6–4 score in the second to force a third set, but fell 7–6 (7–2). Valentina Sanchez Bronzetti and Laura Ullrich also went to three sets at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, but came up short in the deciding set.
Eckerd will be back in action Tuesday to host Mary.
