ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons women's tennis team dropped its conference opener on Monday, falling to the No. 6 ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles by a score of 6-1.
The visiting Eagles took two of three doubles matches to claim the early lead entering singles.

Catherine Cole collected a victory at the No. 1 doubles position by a score of 7-5, but Embry-Riddle took the No. 2 and 3 spots by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
In singles, the visitors notched wins in five of the six matches played. Lindestaf made it a perfect 2-0 effort on the day, picking up a win over her opponent at the No. 1 position by a final score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Cole took the first set over her counterpart at No. 5, but dropped the second and third.Â
The Tritons will be back in action Wednesday to host New College of Florida.Â
