MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Tim Taiwo of Eckerd men's basketball has been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Taiwo was instrumental in the Tritons' 2-0 week, collecting a total of four steals, four blocks, and 14 defensive rebounds across the two games. In a 85-67 road win over Saint Leo, Taiwo posted three blocked shots and three steals, also grabbing eight total boards, seven on the defensive side. Taiwo followed up the effort with a block, steal, and seven more rebounds in Eckerd's victory over Florida Southern, helping the team hold the Mocs to over 10 points below their season average. The junior also averaged in double figures scoring the ball and tallied seven assists on the week.
