ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd men's soccer team dropped a close decision on Saturday at home, falling 1-0 to the visiting Flagler Saints at Johnson Field.
It was a busy first half that featured 13 combined shots, nine coming from the Saints.
Duran Van Woerkom collected six of his seven saves in the first half alone, including three in a row within a 90 second span halfway through the frame. Four different Tritons registered a shot in the opening 45 minutes, but none were on the mark. The teams took a scoreless draw into halftime.
Eckerd again fended off a high volume of shots in the second half, enduring nine attempts for the second consecutive period. The Saints got one to find the back of the net in the 62nd minute, proving to be the game-winning tally. All three of Eckerd's attempts in the second came within a six-minute span beginning in the 55th minute. Both

Van Duren ended the night with seven saves in net.
With the loss, Eckerd drops to 1-1-2 on the season. The team will remain at home to battle Warner on Wednesday.Â
