Eckerd Rallies to Take Series Over No. 25 Rollins in Doubleheader Split

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After trailing in the opener, the Eckerd softball team rallied for five unanswered runs to down No. 25 Rollins, 6-3, and take the series over the Tars, before dropping the finale 5-3 on Friday afternoon.

RC got on the board first, scoring a run on an error for a 1-0 tilt. The Tritons evened the score in the bottom of the frame taking advantage of a Tars' miscue. A pair of RBI infield singles in the second and fifth gave Rollins a 3-1 favor. Eckerd took the lead in the fifth on an RBI single from Ella Coiner and a two-run shot from Addisan Langston. EC tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth on an error and wild pitch to seal the win.

Rollins jumped ahead again in the finale with four runs in the second and one in the third for a 5-0 advantage. Langston got EC on the board with another two-run homer in the fourth. Eckerd rallied in the seventh as a wild pitch scored Mia Hernandez, who tripled. EC added two runners with one out, but a fielder's choice and lineout ended the game.
