WINTER PARK, Fla. - Despite a lopsided final score, the Eckerd baseball team strung together late offensive sparks in a 22-3 loss to Rollins on Thursday afternoon at Alfond Stadium.
The Tritons fell behind early after Rollins opened the game with a three-run homer in the first, followed by two more runs in the third and a seven-run outburst in the fourth to build a 12-0 lead. Eckerd was held scoreless until the seventh, when Dawson Jones and Joey Bazydlo reached base to set up Dylan Escobar's two-run single up the middle. Bazydlo later walked and scored on a Luis Garrido RBI double in the ninth to cap the Tritons' scoring. Eckerd finished with seven hits, including two from Escobar, but couldn't keep pace with the Tars' 19-hit, four-homerun performance, falling 22-3.
