Eckerd Secures Victory Against Edinboro, 4-3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team defeated three-time PSAC conference champions, Edinboro (Pa.), in a close match 4-3 Saturday morning at the Fred Bullard Courts.

After falling in the doubles matches 2-1, Eckerd (6-2) came out on top after securing wins in four singles positions.

Eric Asakura and Lukas Palla in the No. 3 position defeated their Fighting Scots opponents 6-1 to grab a doubles match for the Tritons.

In the No. 1 slot, Batu Ataseven quickly defeated his opponent from Edinboro, 6-0, 6-2, shutting out his opponent in the first set. Asakura fought a hard match, coming out on top after three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 10-5. Adrian Gheorghe swept his opponent in the second set, securing another singles point for the Tritons, 6-2, 6-0. Palla clinched the win in the No. 6 position, winning his match through two sets, 6-2, 6-3.

Eckerd men's tennis looks to maintain their winning streak as they host West Chester University of Pennsylvania for Senior Day on March 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Fred Bullard Courts.
