Escobar Lifts Tritons Over Sailfish in Extras

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team picked up its first conference-series opening win of the season against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, 3-2 in extra innings on the road Friday night.

The Sailfish struck first, scoring on a wild pitch in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Tritons answered in the top of the fourth on a pair of back-to-back RBI singles by Dylan Escobar and Cole Schumaker for a 2-1 Triton lead.

Eckerd held on to the advantage for an inning before PBA scored on another wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth to even the score at two. Eckerd had a chance to take the lead back in the eighth with runners on second and third, but the Sailfish were able to keep the Tritons off the board.

Palm Beach Atlantic had a chance to walk the game off with runners in scoring position in the ninth, but Eckerd  fended off the Sailfish push, sending the game to extras. The Tritons regained the lead in the 10th on a two-out RBI single by Escobar. The run ended up being the difference-maker, as Max Folkman closed the game with a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two to seal the Triton victory, 3-2.
