WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team dropped the doubleheader against the Sailfish, falling 2-1 and 13-6 on Saturday afternoon at JM Jake Rubin Park.
Eckerd started the day by falling behind in the third inning. Like Friday's game, the Sailfish scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead. Dawson Jones equalized with an RBI single in the fifth. An RBI single in the sixth for the Sailfish ended up being the difference-maker for the Sailfish to even the series with a 2-1 victory.
The Sailfish led early in the rubber match, with a three-run fourth inning for a 3-0 lead. An RBI single by Reid Lisle and a sacrifice fly by Cole Schumaker in the sixth brought the Tritons within striking distance, trailing 3-2 in the sixth. Eckerd added four runs in the seventh to flip the tally in their direction to take a 6-3 lead.
The Sailfish retaliated with three runs in the bottom of the frame to level the score once again, before erupting in the eighth inning to bring their score to double-digits, closing the game with a 13-6 victory.
