ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team took the opener from St. Michael's (VT) 11-3 in five innings before dropping a rain-filled finale 14-3 in five innings at the Turley Athletic Complex on Thursday afternoon.
Eckerd added five runs over the first two innings to take an early advantage over the Falcons in game one. Julia Heter and Ella Coiner each added RBI doubles for the 5-0 tilt. St. Michael's College plated a run in the third but the Tritons got it back in the bottom of the frame.
Eckerd plated four runs in the fourth on RBI doubles from Addisan Lamngston and Molly Scott and a single from Ashley Cain. SMC added a two-run homerun in the fifth but the Tritons responded with a run in the bottom of the frame for the walk-off run rule win.
The Falcons struck early in the finale with a run in the first two innings on an infield single and bases-loaded walk. EC added two runs in the second on an error and Mia Hernandez's RBI. However, after a brief rain delay SMC added seven runs in the third inning on five hits and an error.
EC added a run in the third and fourth innings, but the Falcons added three runs in the fifth for the run-rule win.

NOTED AND NUMBERS
- Each of the Tritons starters posted a hit in game one, with Lex Difato, Hannah Taylor, Langston, and Scott adding two hits, while Coiner went 3-for-3.
- Langston posted three RBIs in game one, while Coiner and Scott added two each.
- Heter earned her ninth win of the season in game one, tossing five innings, allowing just five innings with five strikeouts.
- Heter's streak of seven consecutive appearances earning the win was snapped in the finale as she received a no-decision, tossing three relief innings.
- Difato added five stolen bases on the day. She has 32 on the season, ranking third in single-season records.
- Hernandez added two RBIs in the finale.
