Tritons Nearly Sweep Ravens

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team nearly swept Fraklin Pierce (NH) Wednesday morning at the Fred Bullard Courts, taking the match 6-1.

Eckerd (9-4) swept the doubles point with Batu Ataseven and Mario Kirkov, 6-4, taking the top slot before Adrian Gheorghe with Marshall Hulett, 6-2, made quick work in the No. 2 position. Eric Asakura, alongside Lukas Palla, 6-3, secured the doubles sweep with a win in the No. 3 position.

The Tritons secured five out of six singles wins. Hulett, in the No. 4 slot, played through three sets and solidified the Tritons' victory on the day. Ataseven defeated his opponent in two sets, both ending in a 6-2 victory. Kirkov played through three sets, securing wins in the last two, 6-0, 7-5. Gheorghe and Pala defeated their respective Raven's opponents 6-3, 6-2.

Eckerd men's tennis returns to action next Saturday at 2:00 PM against Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla.
