HARDEEVILLE, SC - The Eckerd softball team hit the road for the first time this season, falling 3-2 and 8-1 in a doubleheader at USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon.
The Sandsharks struck first in the opener with two runs in the third on a two-run double. Eckerd rallied to even the score in the fourth on a solo homerun from Hannah Taylor and an RBI groundout by Abby Lucas.
The Tritons had a chance to go ahead in the seventh with two runners in scoring position and one out. However, they were unable to convert. USCB walked it off in the seventh with an RBI double.
USCB took the lead early in the second game with a pair of runs in the opening frame. They added three runs in the fifth before Taylor got Eckerd on the board in the sixth with a sacrifice fly. The Sandsharks made it an 8-1 game with three more runs in the sixth.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Taylor had three hits on the day, with two in the opener. Her homerun in game one was the sixth of her career.
- Ella Coiner added a hit in each game and logged her sixth stolen base of the season.
- Six Tritons finished the six-game opening week hitting over .300. Taylor leads the team with a .526 batting average. Eckerd finished with 18 stolen bases on the week.
