MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Eckerd baseball team dropped the opening game of the series against No. 13 Georgia College, 14-3 on Friday night.
After three scoreless innings, Eckerd was first on the board in the top of the fourth, as Luis Garrido scored on a wild pitch. The Bobcats flipped the script in the bottom of the fifth with a 2-1 favor. Eckerd found themselves trailing 3-1 before a two-run seventh inning brought the score back to even. Trip Haddad and Christian Perez each had an RBI single in the frame to bring the Tritons' tally to three.
Eckerd fell behind again in the bottom of the frame, giving up two runs for Georgia College to hold a 5-3 advantage. The Bobcats erupted in the eighth with nine runs, bringing the tally to 14-3. A 1-2-3 inning in the ninth closed the door on the game, for Eckerd to fall 14-3.
