SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team fell to No. 13 Saint Leo, 6-1 to open conference play Wednesday afternoon.
The Tritons (2-2) fell to the Lions (6-0) after falling in the doubles point and five singles matches.
Eckerd's top pairing of Kylie Misdorp and Fiona Orza were the only pair to take a game from the Lions, falling 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles.
Two Tritons forced three set matches as Eckerd's top two singles of Olivia Lindestaf and Misdorp each took set one of their matches 7-5 and 6-4, respectively. Lindestaf battled back after dropping set two to upset the Lions' top-ranked Claudia Borbon Roca in a set three, 10-6 tiebreak thriller. However, Misdorp dropped sets two and three 6-1.
The Tritons return home Saturday to face the University of Mary (Texas) at 10:00 AM at the Bullard Courts.
