FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - After trailing most of the game, the Eckerd softball team rallied in the seventh to force extra innings. However, the Tritons fell 8-4 in 11 innings on a walk-off grand slam in the series opener over Nova Southeastern on the road Friday night.
NSU took the opening lead with a pair of runs on an error and wild pitch in the opening frame. Addisna Langston responded for Eckerd in the next frame with a solo homerun. However, the Sharks made it a 4-1 game in the third on a bases-loaded walk and single.
Eckerd pulled within two in the fifth as Mia Hernandez swiped home on a double steal. The Tritons rallied in the seventh as Hannah Taylor delivered a two-run double, scoring Gracie Ciccarell and Hernandez.
Both teams were quiet in extra innings, only allowing one runner in scoring position in the 10th. However, NSU finally broke through in the 11th as Gianna Russo delivered a walk-off grand slam,

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Brandilyn Reymer tossed a career-high 13 strikeouts over 10.1 innings. Her 13 strikeouts are the most by a Triton in a single game since at least 2006.
- Taylor, Langston, and Ciccarello added two hits each.
- Langston added her second homerun of the season.
