Eckerd Falls to Flagler on the Road

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Despite a late push, the Eckerd baseball team couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 9-1 to Flagler (Fla.) on Friday night at Drysdale Field.

The Tritons found themselves trailing early after the Saints struck for two runs in the first. Eckerd starter Dearl Edens settled in, holding Flagler scoreless in the second before the Saints put together a three-run third inning, to extend their lead to 5-0. The Tritons' defense tightened up in the fourth, but Flagler added two more runs on a two-out, two-RBI single by Sullivan, making it 7-0.

Eckerd found some momentum in the sixth when Kam Gelwick singled through the left side, and Dawson Jones followed with another base hit. Christian Cabina put the Tritons on the board with an RBI single to left. Rocco Calise came on in relief and tossed three solid innings, allowing just one run in the sixth. Christian Perez's second hit of the night in the ninth was not enough for Eckerd to mount a comeback, falling 9-1.
