SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons women's soccer team picked up its second straight victory Wednesday night, defeating the Saint Leo Lions on the road by a score of 4-0. It is the Tritons' largest margin of victory since they defeated Christian Brothers by the same score back on Sept. 7, 2024.
Saint Leo notched the first two shot attempts of the game and the two teams played just over 30 minutes of scoreless soccer until
Olivia Ozbolt broke the deadlock with a goal in the 31st on a pass from
Kailani Casazza. Neither team put up an attempt at the net in the final 14 minutes of action and Eckerd took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Each team tallied just two shots through 45 minutes.
The second half featured an offensive surge, including 18 combined shots between the Tritons and Lions and three more goals for Eckerd. Seven minutes into the half,
Jasmine Gallo took a pass from
Jillian Doerger and found the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game in favor of the Tritons. Just over 14 minutes later, Ozbolt collected her second tally of the game, using assists from
Nadia Buist and
Anaya Thomas to push the differential out to three.
Gaby Morman send one into the goal in the 80th minute for the first time this season to put an exclamation point on the 4-0 victory.
The Tritons faced a 12-10 disadvantage in the shots category, but all four attempts on target by Saint Leo were saved by
Zoe Brasher in net. Ozbolt and Morman led a balanced attack with a team-high two shots apiece.
With the win, Eckerd's unbeaten streak is now at four games with a record of 3-2-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the SSC. The team will remain on the road to battle Embry-Riddle on Saturday.
