LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd men's basketball team hung close with the nationally top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks at Jenkins Field House on Saturday afternoon. However, the Sharks pulled away with a large run before halftime and maintained its favor in the second half as Eckerd fell 113-74 in SSC action.
Eckerd and NSU traded baskets to start the game, with the teams remaining within a possession of each other until the Tritons used a 6-0 run to take a 25-19 favor at the 11:27 mark. The Sharks responded to take the lead, but EC rallied to tie the game at 39-39 with 3:38 left. However, Nova Southeastern capped the half on a 14-3 stretch to take a 53-42 favor at intermission.
NSU continued its run to start the second half, utilizing a 15-4 stretch over the opening five minutes to take a 22-point lead. The Sharks maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way to the 113-74 victory.
