Eckerd Wins Twice on Final Day of Flame Invitational

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Eckerd volleyball team earned another pair of wins at the Flame Invitational on Saturday, rallying to win in five sets over Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) in the morning before winning 3-0 over Georgia College in the afternoon.

Eckerd and LMU swapped points throughout the opening set, with the Railsplitters edging the set out 25-23. The Tritons ended the second stanza on a 9-4 run to win the frame. However, Lincoln Memorial took the third frame 25-20. The Tritons rallied with a large run early in the fourth frame to win it before a six-point run in the fifth set sealed the victory for Eckerd. 

Eckerd used a late 6-1 run to take the opener over Georgia. Similarly, the Tritons capped the second set on a 7-1 run to take the stanza. After a tight third frame, EC forced back-to-back attack errors to win the match.

NOTES AND NUMBERS  

  • Sydney Williams added 30 digs in the opener, the most in a single match since Luana Rezende had 31 in five sets versus West Georgia on October 19, 2019.
  • Nyla Muskovin and Kinga Michalska led Eckerd in the first game with 16 kills apiece. Muskovin added a .368 hitting percentage, while Michalska added eight digs. 
  • Gabi Jedrzejczak flirted with a triple-double with 46 assists, eight digs, and seven kills in the opener. She added 37 assists in the finale. 
  • Stella Antypa added a pair of double-doubles with 11 kills and 12 digs versus LMU and 12 kills and 19 digs against GC. 
  • Muskovin added double-digit kills in the finale with 10. 
  • Antypa averaged 3.06 kills and 2.69 digs over the weekend, while Michalska averaged 3.21 kills and 1.79 digs while hitting .295 percent.
