Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell to Florida Southern 6-1 at the Wynee Warden Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tritons (7-10) fell to the Mocs (15-5) after dropping the doubles point in a split decision and five of six singles matches.
Phil Grueninger and Eric Asakura took the No. 3 doubles 6-3, but it was not enough to secure the doubles point victory, as the No. 1 pairing of Batu Ataseven and Christian Kearns fell 4-6 for the doubles decision.
Kearns picked up the lone point for Eckerd, dominating his opponent in the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-2. Ataseven fought hard in the top singles against No. 14 Chris Fok Kow, taking a 6-4 first set lead. He dropped set two 6-3 before falling in the third set 10-6.
The Tritons host their final competition of the year against Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Saturday at the Fred Bullard Courts at 1:00 PM.
