WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team dropped its SSC series opener with Rollins, 2-0, on the road Friday night.
Eckerd and Rollins squared off in a pitcher dual through the first five innings. The team combined for just two hits during the span with the game remaining scoreless. However, Grace Germer led off the sixth with a solo homerun to break the stalemate for RC. The Tars then loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a single before adding an insurance run with a bases-loaded walk for a 2-0 lead. Lauren Margolis reached second on an error in the seventh, but the Tritons were unable to push her across.
