ORLANDO, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team defeated Division I opponent Stonehill College (Mass.), 5-2, at the USTA National Campus on Friday morning.
The Tritons (5-5) defeated the Skyhawks (2-13) after dropping the doubles point, and bouncing back to win five of six singles matches.
The Skyhawks swept the doubles point, 3-0. Catherine Cole and Olivia Lindestaf took their pairing in the No. 2 spot to tiebreak but fell 7-5.
Julia Triska had a clutch come-from-behind victory in the No. 3 position, after trailing 6-2 in set one. Triska fought back, taking set two 7-6 (12-10), and the tiebreak 11-9.
Lindestaf cruised in the No. 2 spot, defeating Madison Warren 6-2, 6-1.
Kylie Misdorp outlasted her opponent in the top singles slot, as Julie Holte retired 6-2, 3-1.
Eckerd returns home Sunday for senior day as they host West Chester University (Pa.) at 1:00 PM at the Fred Bullard Courts.
