MELBOURNE, Fla. - Following a breakout rookie campaign
George Kimble has been selected the Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year, as announced by the conference on Thursday, March 7.
He also received All-SSC Third Team accolades after leading Eckerd to the SSC Tournament for the first time since 2018-19.
Kimble, a point guard from Tampa, Florida, is just the second freshman of the year in program history, following Jerrick Stevenson in 2012-13.
Kimble averaged 19.8 points per game, which is third-best in the league. He also added 4.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.
He scored in double digits in 18 of his 20 games played, including a career-high 31 points against Tampa on February 7. He posted 10 games with 20-plus points.
Kimble also had a career-high 12 assists against Embry-Riddle on January 27.
