Honsinger, Vieira Record Milestones as Eckerd Downs Rollins in SSC Quarterfinals

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Two milestones were reached in the SSC Quarterfinals as Head Coach Paul Honsinger '98 reached 300 career wins and senior Lauryn Vieira reached 1000 career points at Eckerd. The Triton women's basketball team used an aggressive start to top the No. 5 seeded Rollins, 67-53, at the McArthur Center on Tuesday night.

EC started the game strong with a 15-0 lead through the opening eight minutes before the Tritons took a 17-9 lead at the end of the first. Six straight points early in the second stanza cut RC's deficit to five. The Tritons pushed back out by double digits moments later before taking a 37-26 favor at intermission.

Eckerd stayed in front by double-digits until the midway point of the third, where they held a 42-33 favor. However, back-to-back triples by Vieira gave EC a 15-point lead. The Tritons took a 49-36 lead into the fourth. Eckerd continued to cruise in the fourth for the win.
