ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team dropped a tight non-conference contest to Walsh (Ohio), 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Bullard Courts.
The Cavaliers took the doubles point, winning the No. 2 and 3 slots, which ended up being the deciding factor as Eckerd and Walsh split singles action.
Batu Ataseven and Christian Kearns took the top flight in doubles competition, 6-3.
Ataseven and Kesrns also won their singles contests as Ataseven won 6-1, 6-4 in the top position, and Kearns took a 7-5, 6-2 decision in the third slot.
Eric Asakura won the No. 4 slot in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6
Eckerd returns to action on Friday in Orlando, facing Stonehill (Mass.) at 11:30 AM.
