ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team dropped contests with Catawba (NC), 7-0, at the Bullard Courts on Monday afternoon.
Catawba took all three doubles matches and all six single positions.
Marshall Hulett and Mario Kirkov battled in the No. 2 doubles slot but were edged 7-5.
Kirkov nearly came away with a point in the No. 2 slot. After dropping the opening set 6-2, he bounced back to take the second 7-5 and fell in the third frame 6-4.
Hulett battled just a close in the No. 6 position. He dropped the first set 6-3 and took the second 6-1. However, he was edged in the finale 10-7.
Eckerd returns to action against Walsh (Ohio) tomorrow at 2:00 PM at the Bullard Court.
