Tritons Rally To Top Palm Beach Atlantic, Win Series

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take the rubber match of the series, 4-3, over Palm Beach Atlantic on Hannah Taylor's RBI double in the seventh on Friday night at Simpson Field.

The game was slated for noon but pushed back to a 5:15 PM start due to inclement weather. PBA took the lead in the opening frame with an inside-the-park homerun. Eckerd rallied in the third to tie the game at 1-1, capitalizing on a pair of Sailfish errors and an RBI from Ella Coiner

Palm Beach Atlantic took the lead, 3-1, in the third on a two-run homer. Lauren Margolis equalized for Eckerd in the fifth with a two-run homerun to left center.

The Tritons escaped a jam in the sixth with runners on the corners and one out as Hannah Taylor grabbed a short pop-up behind the plate and fired it to third for the inning-ending double play.

Coiner led off the seventh with a walk before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Taylor quickly brought her in with a double to left field to take the 4-3 lead. Avery Beauchaine set down the Sailfish in order in the seventh with a pair of strikeouts to end the game.
