VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Eckerd baseball team gave up an early lead but rallied for three runs late. However, the rally was not enough as Eckerd dropped its road contest, 11-8, at Valdosta State on Tuesday night.
Cam Collier got the Tritons on the board first with a solo shot in the second inning as Eckerd added four runs in the frame. Bradley White followed with a two-run triple, and Reid Lisle added an RBI double. However, VSU took the lead in the bottom of the frame with six runs.
Kyle Ericson added an RBI in the next frame, but the Blazers added five runs over the next four innings to hold an 11-5 lead.
EC rallied in the seventh with three runs. Collier added an RBI double while Kam Gelwick and White each drew a bases-loaded walk. However, Eckerd's rally fell short as Valdosta State took the 11-8 win.
