Tritons Split Twinbill with Buccaneers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team split the doubleheader on the road at Barry on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-4 in the opener before taking game two 7-4.

Barry took an early 5-0 jump in the opening frame of game one on a two-run and three-run homerun.

Cam Collier put EC on the board with a solo blast in the fourth before Tyler Cox delivered an RBI double in the fifth as the Tritons trailed 5-2.

Barry added another homerun in the seventh for a 6-2 edge. Eckerd rallied with a pair of homeruns in the next frame, solo shots by Collier and Kyle Abbott. The Tritons loaded the bases in the ninth, looking to equalize, but the Bucs coaxed a groundout to end the game.

In the finale, the Bucs again took an early lead with a run in the second inning.

EC took the lead in the sixth on Collier's fourth homerun of the series and a double by Alex Brazer

Barry evened the score in the seventh, but Eckerd added five runs in the ninthoff Joe Wike's RBI single and a run scoring on an error, followed by a Reid Lisle RBI and two RBIs from Kyle Abbott. Barry rallied for two runs in the bottom of the frame, but Nick Romagnal came in to close the door with a pair of strikeouts.
