ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team made quick work of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Wednesday, defeating the Saints 6-1.
Eckerd (8-5) swept the doubles point while winning five of six singles matches.
Ericka Chavarria and
Catherine Cole took the top slot with a 6-4 victory, while Eckerd won its next two positions by scores of 6-1 with
Kylie Misdorp and
Maya Soligo in the No. 2 and
Maialen Idiakez and
Olivia Lindestaf in the No. 3 slot.
Misdorp didn't drop a set in the top position for EC's first point.
Lindestaf on the No. 2 slot, Soligo in the No. 4, and Cole in the No. 6 position all won by 6-1, 6-1 scores.
Julia Triska took home a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 3.
Eckerd's eight wins are the most in a season since 2006.
The Tritons return to action on Monday, hosting Franklin Pierce at the Bullard Courts at 11:00 AM.
