LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team swept Bentley (Mass.) 7-0 in a neutral site match in Lakeland, Fla. on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tritons (7-5) defeated the Falcons (4-11) after taking the doubles point and all six singles matches.
The Tritons opened the day 3-0 in doubles play. Ericka Chavarria and Catherine Cole shut out the Falcons' top pairing of Adriana Hiraldo and Anna Lang, 6-0. Kylie Misdorp and Maya Soligo played in the two's spot, while Olivia Lindestaf and Maialen Idiakez competed in the three's spot, each taking their matches 6-2.
In singles play, Idiakez shutout Hannah Gould in the No. 5 spot, defeating her 6-0 in straight sets. Lindestaf was stingy, only falling in two sets, taking the No. 2 position 6-0, 6-2.
Lara Machado picked up her first career singles win, defeating Taylor Morris 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles.
Eckerd returns home tomorrow for their Teal Out against the College of St. Scholastica at 1:00 PM at the Fred Bullard Courts.
