Taylor's Homeruns Lift Eckerd To Series Opener Over Moccasins

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A pair of solo homeruns by Hannah Taylor lifted the Eckerd softball team to an SSC series-opening win over Florida Southern, 3-2, on Friday night at the Turley Athletic Complex. 

Taylor led off the second inning with a solo blast to left center to give Eckerd an early 1-0 lead. Mia Hernandez doubled the lead in the frame with an RBI single to left to score Jadyn Wright. 

Olivia Johnson kept the Mocs' bats at bay until the fifth inning, where FSC added a run on an RBI single.  

Taylor gave the Tritons an insurance run with a solo blast to left to lead off the sixth. 

FSC rallied for a run in the seventh, but Brandilyn Reymer coaxed a flyout to end the game.

  • Johnson earned her third win of the year, tossing 4.1 innings. 
  • Reymer collected her first career save, throwing 2.2 innings.
