Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team picked up its second win in as many matches on Tuesday afternoon defeating Warner (Fla.), 4-3, on the road.
The Tritons (2-0) beat the Royals (1-2) after earning the doubles point and taking three singles matches.
The Tritons took the doubles point to open the day, with the second pairing of Mario Kirkov and Marshall Hulett taking the victory in tiebreak, 7-6 (7-4).Â
Eckerd went up 2-2 in singles play when Batu Ataseven clinched the win for the Tritons in a three set, deuce thriller, in the top-seed. Ataseven took set one 6-4, before falling behind in set two 6-3. In tiebreak, Ataseven and the Royals top single Balatzar battled to a 13-11 tiebreak.Â
Mario Kirkov had a 7-5, straight sets victory in the No. 2 spot while Marshall Hulett defeated Routzahn 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 position.Â
Eckerd opens conference play this Saturday, at Lynn at 2:00 PM.Â
