Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team swept Warner (Fla.) on the road 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tritons (3-0) beat the Royals (0-2) after earning the doubles point and taking all five singles matches with a win by default.
With a win by default in the No. 3 spot, Eckerd only needed to win in one doubles pairing to take the point. Both the top pairing of Ericka Chavarria and Cate Cole, and the second pairing of Maya Soligo and Kylie Misdorp, topped their opponents 6-2 to take the doubles point.
Morgan O'Connor was dominant in her 6-0, straight sets shutout in the fifth spot. Similarly in the top two positions, Misdorp and Julia Triska each picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Soligo dropped only one game in the No. 4 slot for a 6-1, 6-0 win over Keren Alves. Maialen Idiakez played in the closest match of the day, with her second set going to tiebreak, before taking the win 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
The Tritons open conference play on Saturday, facing off against Lynn on the road at 2:00 PM.
