ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team dropped a pair of games on the road at Flagler (Fla.), falling to the Saints 13-1 and 5-0 on Friday night.
The Saints began the first game with an early 3-0 favor, putting up three runs in the opening inning. After a scoreless second inning, Flagler had runs in four consecutive innings, continuing to shut out the Tritons defensively.The Saints held an 11-0 favor heading into the top of the eighth. With the bases loaded, Bradley White singled to left field to bring home Cam Collier for Eckerd's lone run of the day. A two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth sealed the deal for Eckerd to fall in the opener 13-1.
Flagler opened game two in a similar fashion, putting up two runs early. The Saints added three more runs in the two following innings. Eckerd struggled to get going offensively after falling behind 5-0, only able to post five hits in the remaining six innings. Lane Funneman kept the Saints at bay, allowing no runs and striking out five through the final five innings. Eckerd fell in the closer 5-0.
