Eckerd Opens Conference Play With Victory Over Lynn

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team opened conference play with an 11-8 barnburner at the Turley Athletic Complex on Friday night over Lynn. 

Eckerd began the game with an RBI groundout by Tyler Cox in the first for a 1-0 lead. The Fighting Knights went on a five-run tear in the second to flip the lead in their favor. The Tritons retaliated with five runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead. Bradley White hit his first homerun as a Triton for the final two runs of the inning. 

Lynn tied it in the third on a sac fly from DJ Flowers to knot the game at six. In the fourth, Cox added his second RBI of the night on a single to center field. Kyle Abbott hit his second home run of the season for a 9-6 lead. The Knights added two more runs to narrow the margin to one heading into the stretch. A solo home run by Reid Lisle in the eighth and an RBI single by Cam Collier solidified the Tritons' win by a score of 11-8.

  • Lisle led the Tritons with three RBIs on the night, going 3-for-5. 
  • White and Cox each hit 3-for-5 with two RBIs apiece. 
  • Gavin Grubbs struck out five of seven batters faced to close the game and earn the save. 
  • Wil Stockman earned his first win of the season with three strikeouts.
  • White added two stolen bases on the night.
