Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Tritons women's basketball team picked up a huge bounce-back win, led by Lauryn Vieira and Martyna Kowalska, for a 60-49 victory over Barry on the road Wednesday night.
Barry took the first quarter 18-13 after opening the game on a 5-0 run. Kowalska and Vieira gave Eckerd its first points of the game to narrow the deficit to 5-3. Barry quickly worked up to double digits for a 13-6 tilt. A steal and a basket by Vieira brought the Tritons back within reach at 16-10 before sinking a free throw to complete the three-point play. Eckerd got to work quickly in the second quarter, flipping the lead for the first time in the opening minute. Leads swapped two more times before the score was knotted at 22. The teams traded runs and leads before Barry retired the half with a slim 32-30 margin.
Nearly two scoreless minutes began the second half before Barry opened the scoring with a free throw. Chance Bucher hit a timely three to bring the tally to 33. Eckerd worked to an eight-point favor, leading 48-40 into the last period. A three by Ieva Korzane gave the Tritons their first double-digit lead of the game. The Tritons outscored the Bucs 12-9 in the frame, closing the game with a 60-49 victory.
