Tritons Lead Wire-to-Wire in Victory Over Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd men's basketball team jumped ahead in the first few minutes and never looked back for a 72-64 road victory over Florida Tech on Tuesday evening.

With a Koa Baker free throw at the 17:25 mark, Eckerd took the lead, 5-4, which they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. Eckerd maintained a one-to-six-point lead until an Isaiah Placide triple at the 4:53 mark gave the Tritons a nine-point favor.  A 6-0 Triton run in the final two minutes put EC up 34-23 at intermission.

Eckerd pushed in front by 13 in the second half and maintained a double-digit favor until an 8-2 run pulled Florida Tech within six at the 11:59 mark. Eckerd pushed back in front by double digits at the 7:17 mark. A late 7-0 run by the Panthers pulled them within two at the 2:49 mark, but Kent Garard responded with a basket, and Eckerd made its free throws the rest of the way to seal the win.
