Tritons Shutout Florida Southern, 2-0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team used a pair of goals in each half to defeat Florida Southern, 2-0, at Johnson Field on Wednesday night.

Eckerd was aggressive from the start and got on the board quickly into the game with a goal in the eighth minute as August Nygard converted on a shot inside the box. FSC placed just two shots in the opening half, both off-frame, as Eckerd took a 1-0 lead at intermission.

The Tritons had a few opportunities in the second frame. Luciano Rodriguez broke free in the 77th minute and rifled a long strike from the top of the 18 to give Eckerd a 2-0 lead. The Mocs placed a last-minute attempt on frame, but Eckerd turned back the shot for the 2-0 shutout.
