ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team rallied late with a goal in the 78th minute from Luciano Rodriguez. However, the Tritons could not complete the upset, falling to No. 1 Lynn 2-1 at Johnson Field on Senior Night Saturday.
Lynn got on the board early with a goal in the 19th minute that deflected off a Triton and in. Eckerd looked to respond with four shots the rest of the half, but they were unable to convert, entering intermission down 1-0.
The Knights tacked on another goal in the 50th minute as Lucas Vila converted on a shot from the right wing. Eckerd pressed late and drew a penalty in the box in the 78th minute, where Rodriguez converted on a ball in the lower right corner. However, the Tritons were unable to place another shot in the waning minutes to fall 2-1.
