ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team picked up its first Sunshine State Conference victory of the season in dominant fashion Friday night, sweeping Florida Tech (3-0) at the McArthur Center.
The Tritons and Panther swapped points throughout the early part of the first set before Eckerd went on a 5-0 scoring run to distance themselves, taking the first stanza 25-19 on an Erin Garr kill. An early 7-0 Tritons' run was erased by an 8-1 Panthers' run. However, Eckerd responded with another seven consecutive points to win the second frame 25-19. EC cruised in the final set to win it 25-13.
