DADE CITY, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team struggled offensively in the series opener at No. 13 Saint Leo Friday night, as Lions' pitcher Kayla Betts tossed a no-hitter as the Tritons fell 17-0 in five innings. 
SLU took a 9-0 lead in the opening inning, scoring on nine hits, including a three-run homerun and two errors. The Lions tacked on another three runs in the third, with two runs scoring via error and a run crossing on a fielder's choice for a 12-0 lead. SLU added its final four runs in the fourth.  
Brenna Lokeinsky broke up the perfect game bid with a walk to lead off the third frame. She moved into scoring position on an error but was unable to score. Brooklyn Cardona drew a walk in the fifth for EC's other baserunner.
