ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team fell in a split decision to the Catawba Chiefs (N.C.), 4-3, at the Bullard Courts on Tuesday.
The Chiefs (5-1, 3-0 SAC) beat the Tritons (2-5, 0-3 SSC) after earning the doubles point and taking three of six singles matches.Â
The Tritons dropped the doubles point with the one's pairing of Kylie Misdorp and Maya Soligo coming closest, falling 6-4 to Catawba's Alexandra Parra and Vicky Beardsley.
Misdorp fought to earn the Tritons a point in the No. 1 draw, taking down Miya Ami 6-2, 1-6, 10-6. Ericka Chavarria downed Vaishnavi Venkatesh in two sets, winning set one 6-2, and set two 7-6 (7-4) in a tiebreak. Lilli Reichert rounded out the third point for the Tritons, defeating Nika Dundovic in the No. 6 slot 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).Â
The Tritons are back in action tomorrow at the Bullard Courts for another non-conference matchup against Walsh University (Ohio), with first serves at 3:00 PM.Â
