Eckerd Edged in Pitchers' Duel

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team's 13-game win streak ended on Friday night as they dropped a 1-0 decision at Florida Tech at Nancy Bottge Field.

The pitchers battled toe-to-toe, with neither team able to plate a run until the sixth inning.

Eckerd threatened in the first as Lauren Margolis walked and advanced to third on Skylar Redish's single. However, EC could not push a run across.

The Tritons nearly added a run in the fifth. Brenna Lokeinsky added a two-out single and looked to score on Ella Coiner's single to right center, but Coiner was thrown out at second before the run crossed.

Florida Tech led off the sixth with a base hit, and the runner advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and groundout before scoring on a single to left.
